The Structure of the Conference

The Structure of the Conference of Sacred Heart Education

The Conference and its committees work on behalf of the Provincial Team of the Society of the Sacred Heart, United States-Canada Province. 

The Provincial Team is responsible for the leadership of the province and for its spiritual and apostolic direction. The Provincial and her team appoint the Head of Conference as leader of the Conference which serves as a think tank on mission for the schools within the Network.

As the liaison between the Schools and the Province, the Head of Conference facilitates the work of the Conference Office to identify the needs of the heads and chairs to support the deepening of the mission of Sacred Heart education. Working closely, the Network Executive Director and the Web Manager support the Network's Strategic objectives and ensure resources are shared in effective ways. The Head of Conference works collaboratively with the following committees:
The Education to Mission Committee of the Conference designs and oversees new, on-going and mandatory education to mission of Board Chairs and Boards, Heads and Administrative Teams about the Society of the Sacred Heart - its charism and tradition, spirituality, mission, Goals and Criteria, priorities, governance and accountability, relationship with the Catholic Church and the Society's future direction. 
The Governance Committee attends to how governance structures support mission. By-laws and articles are legal statements about relationships and Sacred Heart mission as articulated in the Goals and Criteria.
The Sacred Heart Commission on Goals (SHCOG) provides a system of accountability for living the Sacred Heart mission. The commission is appointed by the provincial of the USC Province, Society and the Sacred Heart. Its membership reflects the provincial of the USC Province, Society of the Sacred Heart. Its membership reflects the relationships of head of school, trustees, faculty/staff and senior leadership (middle management). Its mandate from the provincial is to design a reflective process whereby a school community holds itself accountable for living according to the Goals and Criteria.

Schools of the Sacred Heart share in the educational mission of the Society of the Sacred Heart as articulated in the Goals and Criteria. The structure supporting Sacred Heart education in Canada and the United States includes the Conference of Sacred Heart Education and the Network of Sacred Heart Schools.  Together they provide services and programs to ensure vitality of mission for the member schools sponsored by the Society of the Sacred Heart.
